Thanks for that info, Micke. A Multimoog was the first synth I ever laid hands on and could get no more than a few curious blips and bleeps out of it. Disappointing to me in 1978; my, how my tastes have changed.

No, we were just discussing synths and good 'ol times per email.

Btw, I forgot to tell you that Ulf used lots of Jupiter-8 on the following albums "Jupiter Sign" (rec. in 1983) and "When the night closes in" (1985).
As soon as he got the Jup8 it became his favorite synth.

First time ever posting in the threads...

But this tune first really turned me on to some different uses of electronics. I love the bumpy bass that comes in...

Ozrics: Spyroid

No clue about the gear. I'm still more drummer than synther. Wish the sound quality was better. Killer music to drive to...

Most Tony Banks works sounds good in a song. Also the MicrowaveXT sound in the Ray of Light, Madonna. It almost like an XT album for me.

The Odyssey lead and all the Buchla 200e sound retreatments (particularly the bass guitar) on The Hand That Feeds, from NIN!!!!! 8)

Argh I almost forgot about this one :)

Another nice one is the guitarlike sound in New Order's Kiss Of Death, starting about 3:04, eventhough it was from the Emulator, so maybe not really a synth.

Recently I also fell in love with that simple solo from Visage - Fade To Grey starting with a glide.

IQ - Widow's Peak

The mono lead synth during the two verses. It's an Arp Odyssey with unison sawtooth osc + ring mod. Fantastic sound!

IQ - Leap of Faith

The start of the instrumental section at 3:29 is a square portamento Oscar, that's one h**l of an analog!

The synth leads on the three Genesis album released between 1976 and 1978 (Trick of the tail, wind and wuthering, and then there were three) is mostly Arp 2600 and Pro-Soloist sounds. Haunting!

Well I got a few memorable ones but stadly they are a pain to track down...

the pads from u96's Club bizzarre and Brooklyn Bounces many many many versions [i've got 4 cds of different versions of this song just from Brooklyn bounce, and yes one was a rare =P] of it =P easily reproduced with microkorg presets[just offset your mastertune by. but If I remember right they pre-record in their studios and press their own vynals =/


Um lets soo one that always stuck with me awas VOODOO PEOPLE! with that awesome a*s feedback meets guitarish sound of the Roland JD-880

Suicide commando's Jp-8000s synth sounds are also awesome ^^

Another bassline I love to death is this MEGA simple a*s bassline in Rotersands "Exterminate Annihilate Destroy"


I shouldn't forget Castles in the skyon the jp-8000 too =P

Another one that comes to mind are the various old school synths in crystal methods "keep hope alive" [are the pads a Juno? what makes that awesome high pitch squelchy sound, my synth-stincts tells me its lots of filter-fun]
