darkride2.aif - 9.44MB

--Edit-- Forgot to mention that I also sent an attenuated lfo from CP-251 to the waveform CV on the 107 for a little bit of PWM.

I made this quick demo shortly after receiving my 107 about two months ago. Midi controller going into a .Com midi interface to control the pitch of the 107, oscillator out of the 107 going into a .Com VCA and the output going into an Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man and then into a TC Electronic Nova Reverb. I think the 107 tracks pretty good with a CV signal controlling pitch. I bought the 107 to add a fourth(and different character) VCO to my .Com system. Three 107's to make a Moog Modular/Minimoog is definitely overkill. Just buy a Voyager or a modular of manufacturer of preference.

The Three 107's and the 101 would be a start. You would probably need something like Moog's CP-251 which would add a noise source, simple (2 waveform) LFO, simple mixer, Sample and hold, as well as a mult to control the pitch CV for all three 107's from one CV in source, and there are also two attenuators to match up the MF's to the CV source if they are all not 1 v/oct.

You could do some interesting things with this combo, especially by using the audio output of one 107 to FM another 107. It would be a fat sound, but I don't know if it would exactly be a Mini. As previously mentioned, there are no envelope generators in the Mooger line and no VCA as well. Augmenting this setup with modular gear to add the missing components drives up the cost enough that an actual Mini or the new Voyager OS are the more practical solution.

Just my 2 cents, but do give us some audio samples if you give it a try!

Gah that makes waiting for the damn courier to arrive all the more torturous!

The Analogue Systems RS-95 has cv waveshaping of triangle to saw/inverted saw and a variation of this with sine waves.

That said, I think its a great idea to use the moogerfooger pedals. It will get you a very decent modulair synth.

There are keyboard controllers that have CV outs.
