What instruments are Daft Punk using at the Grammys?

Post by tyrannosaurus mark » Mon Feb 11, 2008 11:44 am

At the Grammys this year Kanye West performed his (imo a rather poor) rework of Daft Punks harder better faster stronger. In the performance Daft Punk appear in new costumes (I assume it's them?) and the camera swoops into the pyramid where you can clearly see small touch screens being used to manipulate the sound. What are those things? Are they just props used for miming, or are they some strange controllers I've never seen before?

Here's a link to the performance:
Moog LP + Casio SK1 and MT-75 + tube amp = good tone.

The pyramid has 4 Voyager RMEs, two behringer BCR2000s and touchscreens for running Live.

edit: typo

So you reckon they had their standard setup in there? Hmm it does look like they only have those lemur touchscreens in there, how strange

They were probably just pretending to do something.

Maybe...the button placement they were using seemed a bit random. However, it would be cool if it wasn't mimed and was legit. Sounded ok enough for a mainstream event.

Good to see Daft Punk rocking out...what looks like 4 Lemurs/Dexters. My hunch is the one you see punching all the squares is firing the puffs of smoke. Just a hunch though. Can't see what the other Daft Punk is doing on his two.

kanye sucked (though his glasses were awesome and hilarious), and it sucked that daft punk didn't get to continue and do another song w/o him.

whether they were faking it or not.

also tina turner's got to be 90% plastic. i changed the channel after that...

Yeah, I mean if I were them that's what I'd do for such an event

Still, it was cool to see those controllers, the camera doesn't usually swoop into the pyramid like that.
