The Warriors synths (more audio clips added)

Post by Micke » Tue Mar 11, 2008 4:57 pm

At last I know what synths were used on Barry DeVorzon's soundtrack from early '79.

Let's see if anyone here can figure out what was used on there!

The Warriors, eh, Micke?

I'll hazard a guess at Polymoog Keyboard and ARP Odyssey.
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

One of the answers posted this far is correct but... I won't reveal which one it is just yet. :?

Keep 'em coming!

were there any oberheims around then? Coz my Matrix 1000 sounds like a Warriors machine! But it was made 7 years or so after the movie came out, so no luck.

Yes, I would guess Oberheim and maybe a 2600?
Too futurist to live.

Surely one of you boppers must know what they was packing? Can you dig it? ;)

Great movie. I'm guessing Prophet-5 but I'm probably wrong.

Still only one correct answer (and you have to figure out which one that is).

Keep 'em coming!

Polymoog?

Still the best use of a Joe Walsh song in cinematic history, that. Not a bad flick, really.

Still only one correct answer (which one is it then?). I can reveal that one monophonic and one polyphonic were used alongside electric piano (Rhodes).

De Vorzon's instrumental score was recorded at the end of 1978.

Here's a brief excerpt from DeVorzon's synthy score that I recorded directly from the DVD:
The Warriors theme

Well.....that arpegio sounds Moogy to me....Minimoog. I'd say its using one of the hardwired preset pulse widths....the narrow setting.

The phasered synth....hmmm I dont know.....something with Curtis filters.....?

Go on spill da beans!!!
