Hawkwind synths used

Post by seamonkey » Fri Apr 11, 2008 4:58 pm

A couple of weekends ago we listened to some Hawkwind(the godfathers of space music), specifically the Space Bandits cd and the Out of the Shadows DVD w/Arthur Brown.
I love these guys and their offshoots Ozric Tentacles, does anyone know what synths Dave Brock and Harvey Bainbridge have used?Would like to know what they're using today as well.

Dave Brock has used/still has - Synthi-AKS (not VCS3 that was used in the 70's by Del Dettmar and DikMik + audio generators), Jupiter-8, Korg SQ-10, MS-20 etc

Harvey Bainbridge used a Moog Source (other synths he played/used ????)

Hawkwind hid their synths on-stage behind a decorated black sheet a lot

There was a thread about Hawkwind synths just one month ago. Check it out. It has lots of cool info and links to vids with interviews of Brock, Lemmy et al.
Art is not a copy of the real world. One of the damn things is enough.

Thanks Spike, I checked it out this morning, very interesting stuff on there.
I am a Dave Brock fan and while I like the earlier stuff I like the direction Dave has taken them through the years and I think because of his leadership they have been able to maintain the success they have for so many years.

Here's a link to a good breakdown of gear used by the band over the years.
