My Pro-One Project

I'd say if you're certain the carpet is clean and the PCB has only traces on the back side, then your main risk, assuming the board has chips on it, is static discharge. A purely discrete component board with no static-sensitive solid state components, like MOSFETs, would probably be ok.Jabberwalky wrote:Is it bad to place circuit boards on carpeting?
That would not be a good place to work on a circuit board.Jabberwalky wrote:Is it bad to place circuit boards on carpeting?
As I state on the webpage, I'm using the Deoxit Faderlube (formerly Calilube MCL) from Caig. I'm using the 5% stuff so as not to "gum up the works" with residue. The regular Deoxit shouldn't be used as it can damage some pots.steveman wrote:Can you tell me what you lube them with?carbon111 wrote:...then lube the pots and switches.
The method I describe is good but a really dirty component should probably be disassembled to clean...or just replaced. Also, what's the best way to clean sticky pots & switches. I hear lots of different stories what should / shouldn't be used.
Thanks!Good luck with it, looks great.
