Is there a standalone frequency shifter on the market?
Several modular synthesizers have the frequency shift modul, usually together with ring modulator, but is there a standalone version?

Analog Systems used to do small cabinets for one or two modules as seen in this article

in which you could fit a frequency shifter plus one more module.
But i don't think they make them anymore.

Frequency shifters are awesome - one of those 'totally impossible to describe the sound unless you hear it' things.
Could you do the job with this doepfer module:

It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but it is self-contained

This one has it's own power supply and microphone pre-amp. The only catch is you have to build it yourself.

There's a Freque II here:

It's possibly the ugliest piece of musical equipment I've ever seen. IMO.

thanks for answers.
doepfer for 159 eur + box, for 70 eur could do the trick (as mentioned before).
frequency shifter from encore electronics sounded especially sweet. i wonder, if it's easy to get a power supply for this. i think i could handle making the box.
try this sample
doepfer's samples were much more harsh.
the ugly unit is tempting but why so outrageously expensive?
I'll have to decide, if it's easyer to use the software version, which came with logic 8 or try to stay hardware.

The graphics on it remind me of a zoomed-in version of those giant photos of sweating soda cans that they have on Pepsi machines. Yuck!tombola wrote:It's possibly the ugliest piece of musical equipment I've ever seen. IMO.

weve got an original stand alone bode frequency shifter but it would take a really good offer for us to sell it. fwiw, they also fit this into a moog module.
