Of course, he is taking the piss. Nonetheless, unlike many of the "what synth" threads, this one requires a reasonable amount of reading comprehension, knowledge of synthesizers of past and present, and knowledge of current market prices. Oh, and some math skills as well. In the end, it's a pretty good indication of who should be answering the real "what synth" threads. Consider this an IQ test. :wink:

Consider it something to ponder if you get bored. You can only go over the same old ground so many times.

Okay, you shell out the dough, and I'll take one! :wink:
I bought mine (2nd hand Moog Signature) for $200. Is that too much?

Seriously, they can be had nowadays for between $280 and $420 (perhaps not the signature one anymore, but other Moog Theremins (unless you get a really fancy one). :P

I would just spend the $5000 on beer and then scream at the top of my lungs until I threw up and passed out.

That amount wouldn't even get you slurring, Huppo. It might make you a bit peckish, though.
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

Poly Evolver Rack ($1,349.00 New)
Virus TI Desktop ($1995.00 New)
Roland SH2 (I got mine for $600-700 on eBay)

= approx $4000

Would need a DAW and MIDI controller, however they aren't bound by this thread rule's budget constraint :)

Oop's OK swap the Pulse for an Xpander!

SPS-1 = £600 (used)
SFX-60 = £550 (used)
Xpander = £1200ish

£2350 = $4619 :)

*Hybrid, *Pre '90, sub-50% $ : PPG Wave 2.3 - $2200 (er, hopefully)
Digital, sub-20% $ : Alesis Ion - $600 new (still available new from a couple of places...dang; only about ~$400 used)
Freebie : Memorymoog+ - $2199 (an instructor's selling one, could get it this cheap off him)

Total = $4999 = Prime

Me = :D

*(I did this right, right? A single synth can satisfy several requirements? Your rules were somewhat grammatically confusing...
Stab Frenzy wrote:One synth may fulfill all these parameters, but not...

Obviously you were being funny with one synth satisfying all 3, but can 1 satisfy 2 requirements?)
