ARP Solus $1900! You gotta be kidding?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ARP-SOLUS-RARE-VINT ... dZViewItem
I bought one for $50 CDN about 7 years ago and resold it for $500 about 3 years ago and bought a JP 8000 with that money. The Solus worked okay, but the keys were stiff but it was in immaculate cosmetic shape.
But $1900 ?!!! Either I did really badly by selling it or something else wacky is going on.

We're in a weird time where everything vintage is commanding big bucks...especially since the US Dollar is down vs. other currencies. Basically, this is the last time where you are going to find examples of many old synths that still work...as they get older, more will c**p out, and prices will be 10x what they are now...even if analog / vinatge synths are not in vogue.

Yeah this is almost as good as the current e-bay Oberheims:
A non-midi OBXa for $4k
An OB-8 for $3, 195
And a "mint" OB-8 that's at $1,300+
Featuring rusty screws, inputs, huge scratches and only one octave of working keys!
Sorry if these are any forum member's listings but come on.

Hello Phollop, for future reference, there's actually a 'sticky' thread at the top of the page for posting any interesting eBay auction related finds.
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

That's my Obie. Since eBay had 50 cent Fixed Price listings, I put that up along with my EML 101 for $5K just to draw attention to my other listings - which did work - I sold nearly everything music related I had listed.drawtippy wrote:

I have no intention of selling either of those synths, but if someone is willing to pay it - I'll part with them.
I agree $1900 for a Solus is ridiculous when you can get an Odyssey for the same $$$. However, it is a seller's market for vintage synths especailly with the current exchange rate for USD.

I thought about that, but this was so off the wall, it wasn't so much 'interesting' as wacked. So I figured it was on topic for it's own thread.Jack Spider wrote:Hello Phollop, for future reference, there's actually a 'sticky' thread at the top of the page for posting any interesting eBay auction related finds.
Besides, I think you'd have to be foolish to pay that kind of money for a Solus - but to each his own I guess.
I figured a Mod. would move it to there if it wasn't appropriate or appreciated here.
I did post about the old Moog Theremin on the sticky however (so I'm not all bad). 8)

The eBay thread has certainly seen a few atrocities over the years. Prices for synths are going through the roof on eBay - especially here in the UK. A lot of folk think that by adding 'rare' or 'vintage' to an auction, it means they can double the asking price!

Time to list my "rare vintage mint" Motif XS6 for some huge money!Jack Spider wrote:Prices for synths are going through the roof on eBay - especially here in the UK. A lot of folk think that by adding 'rare' or 'vintage' to an auction, it means they can double the asking price!

How about this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Roland-Fantom-X6-Ke ... dZViewItem
Funny how it has no bids.

Well he is a new lister (is that a word?) so he most likely added an extra zero without knowing it - or it's a bad joke.

I thought of that but he set a reserve price too. It's unlikely he accidentally added an extra zero in two separate places.

Completed items shows:hfinn wrote:I actually don't think this is that strange. It is in stellar shape and he has a best offer option. Probably has the BIN price high to raise the price of the offers.
$1,150.00 - $1,500 with most around $1,100 - $1,200
so...?
