What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
I live out in a rural area outside of Kansas City, Mo. and interestingly enough sometimes you find a synthesizer (that actually is functional) for next to nothing on the price tag.
Heres what I am talking about
Yamaha CS-5 $10.00
Moog Concertmate MG1 $75.00
Casio SK 200 Free
Korg Mono/Poly $100.00
Roland D5 $100.00
Boss DR660 Drum Machine $40.00
so what was the cheapest synth you ever bought?

That's pretty cheap considering what they sold for when they first came out.gcoudert wrote:Yamaha DX7 last year. £27 (33.9 Euros / US$53.1 at today's rate).
Gilles
Did it come with a hard shell case?

ARP Solina: $5 on its side outside a thrift shop in the rain.
Fantastic condition (best I've ever seen), and fully functional after it dried out!

Another Cheap Synth
My Yamaha SY 85 Synthesizer was found when A neighbor moved out and left all his junk in the house, A new family soon moved in and I found it lying at the curb with alot of other trash waiting for the garbage men to take it away, so I picked it up, and I havent looked back.

My Fender Rhodes Mk1 (1975) that i bought for 80$ there is 15 years ago. And for synths, errrr....never such a good price. It was correct, but not extraordinary. For example my Yamaha TG-77 (rack version of SY-77) that i bought 150$ last summer.
It is much easier to be a good equipment purchaser than to be a great musician.
Wow RL, you’ve been very lucky those are some great finds. The best I’ve done are:
Poly-800 for $50
D-50 for $125
A couple SK-1 sampler toys for $4 ea. (which is about all their worth IMO)
Stuff I’ve missed out on lately:
Arp Omni $100 (few months ago on craigslist, went quick, supposedly 100% functional)
JP-8000 $250 (too slow again - last weekend)
Jupiter 6 $700 (person ended up selling it on ebay for much more because no one wanted it locally – I was trying to be good and wasn’t really in the market but kinda wish I woulda)
JX-3P $150 (lady was really flakey the add was up for like an hour than she said it wasn’t working properly, I still expressed an interest and didn’t hear back from her).
If you're into pianos or organs they are plentiful and cheap around here.
I used to go to pawn shops and thrift stores but never really found anything of value.

I would have never had any electribes if it weren't for great deals. My EA-1 and ER-1 for $50 each. My ES-1 was free.
Some great guitars and amps for all kinds of cheap.
I've picked up a lot of stuff at thrift stores that sold for much more that I bought it for.
CS-5 for $10 is amazig.
