Both within the last year, too, mind you ;). I watch craigslist/kijiji like a hawk.

yeah, same here. some of my faves have come from CL. one thing i'd really like to trip across used/inexpensive is a Roland SH-2. i'd jump out of a moving car for that one.

it's not a synth and not THAT amazing a deal, but i just landed a rockman stereo echo for $100.
off the top of my head two of the best best deals i've gotten have been an AX-60 for free and an 808 & CSQ-600 for $808. kid you not.

That's like me asking "hey, can anybody donate me an arp 2600? " (btw, I'll take one off your hands if it's broken... really broken) :D

Bought a Sequential SixTrak with road case from a secondhand store excellent physical condition. After testing it in the store there was definitely an issue with the oscillator tuning so I stole it for like $150 USD. Took it home, ran the software tuning procedure and voila! Perfectly good analog synth!

that cap replacement is a serious PITA. but once its done and youve serviced the rest of the omni, its a great sounding synth.

A Yamaha TG-33 for €99,-. Not exceptionally cheap but the cheapest I've got so far. :)

Ok, here we go:

Sequential Pro-One- $35 (broken fuse holder, otherwise, fine!)
whiteface ARP Odyssey- $100 (here's the worst part- it belonged to Darryl Dragon of Captain and Tennile. I bought it from his studio, and he was selling SIX of them for that. I should've bought 'em all!)
Roland VP-330 vocoder $230
Roland TR-606 $10

UGH. I shoulda kept 'em all!

Oh yeah... I bought my Prophet-5 last year for $1000, and it only needed a little love (about $100 worth of parts, fixed it myself). Still have it and NEVER letting it go :)

reading this thread makes me ANGRY (with jealousy  )

it also seems much easier to get deals in the US than over here in britishland. what with craigslist etc. are the brits just more clued up on the gear and what its worth?

More like a case of there simply being more Americans with cool equipment they're clueless about because there are more Americans.

I hate to say it, but you are correct man. I know ppl who have a lot of nice gear but they have no friggin idea what they have. I know a kid who got a Juno 106 and sold it for chump change cuz it only did 6 voices, not what he wanted!! I could have bought that for the price of a VL-V1 (10.00) lol. But it goes the same for the jokers out there who charge a kings ransom for what they have. I know it's an early minimoog but 5 grand  that makes me angry.
