Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
that reminds me of a member from a local online auction store (Trade me) called "capricornone" the only difference is that he buys nearly all interesting analog vintage gear and doesn't resell them or make music either , just collect them for a supposed museum of electronic instruments of new zealand...... so awesome if not great vintage synths are just sitting in a cold dusty corner somewhere here in auckland by the only purpose of been part of a "museum" :/Pro5 wrote:In the UK there is a guy on ebay who snatches up all the synths at... fair to high prices and then dumps them back on ebay a week later + 25% upwards... he's annoying me - love the synths - don't artificially inflate the prices matey and stop us who want to actually use them from aquiring them

I got 2 MKS-70s and 2 Roland M-64C carts all for $60 a few months ago. Both are working but the display is out on one of them. Also got a AX-60 for $80 late last year.

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Last Friday got a Kawai K3 100% Functional for 125.00 This was one of the best bang for your buck synths I have ever aquired. Very Easy to use, and the 6 Voice Polyphony is nice on an analog system. :p

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
I would love to be one of those bastards who report finding a working Jupiter-8 at a garden sale for $100.
Or to be Rick Wakeman in 1971 when he got a used Minimoog (his first) for almost nothing because the seller thought it was broken since it only played one note. When told that's how a monosynth works, he said he didn't need it anyway, as he was a piano player.
But at least I got my Roland D-50 for free. The store owner (personal friend) dared me to hold it above my head for 5 minutes and I'd get it for free (It was just gathering dust in his store anyway, and I always played it).

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Haa I've done that with mine for about... ten seconds (while moving it) is 5 mins that hard? I guess the old grab sticks start to ache after 2?? did you lock your arms? Gonna try that.. could be the new excercise regime I was looking for... think my SY85 is heavier though so will work my way up from the An1x to that... warm up kinda thing ;0Bitexion wrote: But at least I got my Roland D-50 for free. I think holding a CS-80 out at arms length would be a better test of one's power

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Yeah it starts to get seriously heavy after a couple of minutes. I wouldn't do it again.
The old rolands weren't the plastic lightweights of today.
Glad I didn't try that on a CS-60 he had in the store. It got sold within a week though, hardly got to try it out before it was gone again.

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Kawai K1II and Hohner GP93 organ. Pretty cool sounding organ actually. Paid dkk 750 for both, that's about US$ 135. Most ppl seems to dislike the Kawai. Haven't played it much yet. Is it really that bad?
