I've got this old Radio Shack synth sitting in the closet. you want it? Here, I'll just give it to ya."
Two minutes later, I walking out with a Six Trak and an MG-1 for $100.

And a big-assed mother-fu@king grin, I hope.

Besides the Casio VL-Tone I got recently...

I just won a Roland RS-09 (v.2) for $250 shipped. That's lowest price i've seen them go in a long time... plus I justified it because I bought a v.1 with original case earlier this year for $400, couldn't justify keeping it at the time and sold it on eBay for $700+!

So I figure I was paid $50 for the one I'm about to receive. Guess I'll put the $50 towards a Small Stone. ;)

cheapest were the crumar performer and the juno 6, each for $100. Not insane bargains, but definitely a great price for two analogs with distinct sounds. Scored my AJ2 and my ESQ-1 for good prices too--$125 each. Got my first P600 back when you could still score them for $400. Greatest price, though, was for the most I ever spent on a synth: $1000 for an ARP 2600 (grayface, moog filter).

nice.

When I first started buying up gear, I thought I was going a little overboard. Now I wish I had bought two of everything.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit a few of these. But I figure in our age of instant information, if you can't take 10 seconds to type "Ensoniq TS-10" into Google or Ebay then you deserve to let some guy walk out with that old keyboard for $30.

Same goes for the guy who sold me the Juno 106 for $50, the woman who let me take her Baldwin Harpsichord for $50. Or the Yamaha DX7IIfd with e! and a hard case for $100, the Jupiter 6 for $600, Yamaha YC45 (along with a box full of vintage guitar pedals) for $200, Crumar Orchestrator and Yamaha CP-30 for $25...etc.

Who am I to educate people on the value of their old musical 'junk'? I've found every one of my deals on a classified web site, so it's not like I was buying from people who don't know how to turn on a computer.

The funny thing is, as I was high tailing it with the $30 TS-10 a few months back the guy says, "I'll be you're getting a h**l of a deal. I can tell this isn't cheap Wal-Mart c**p, it's heavy and there's no button that says 'Samba' on it. I don't care, I just want it out of here before my wife gets home."

"Fair enough!"

Not much happening around these parts at the moment, picked up a Pearl Syncussion SY1 for the equivalent of 90UKP recently, apart from that its the tale of missing out on a broken (but who cares!) Jupiter 6 for about 500UKP, and an MS20 for about 700UKP...

mg-1 $20 from a tiny Texas town off my great uncle who snagged it from a priest
sh-101 from a pawnshop labeled as a mixer for $80
ARP 2600 $1400 during the analog revival frenzy and sold for a good deal more to a nice fellow in japan
all those three sales put together = REGRET :(
