No need to feel ashamed for helping your family out.
Helping a Life is worth more, than any synth or hobby in the world.

you did the right thing :D

Figure i would post my newest addition-
Two Yammy CS1X's, $35 together.
#1 was in rough shape, usable for parts
#2 works, and is in decent shape- just dirty.
both- no power cord :(

Fixing them up, and selling them off.

...most of the vintages I have now have been reasonably priced considering where I live. JX-8P, Alpha Juno 1 and a D-50 for about $250 a piece. I also paid the same for a Nord Lead 1 and got my DX7 MKI for about $200. I also passed on a JX-10 last week for around $140 as I am a little pressed for space (and have a Doepfer Dark Energy on the way) right now.

today was a good day...

saw an add about an akai s6000, with the ADAT card and the USB card, 256 ram, 160gb hdd, scsi cd reader (but no scsi cable) for 150$can (about 130$us). called the guy, went to his studio and came back with it.

i did had a s5000 before, but i didn't know that the s6000 is not 3U like the s5000 but 4U!!

What a lucky purchase, was it all ok internally (No dreaded battery leak?).

Also SY-77 for $50 = :)
i'll have to report back... guy selling it of course didn't know about that. says it plays fine but has some keys that don't work, hoping it just needs cleaned up...
Well? Updates? This could beat the deal I got on a P6 I got recently for $308. Has minor, minor wear outside. Mint inside, some scratchy pots, switches that needed cleaning, and one broken key. I was lucky enough to come across a replacement key for free as well. Actually I've never seen one this good in person.

A fully functional Casio SK1 for $1 - I saw one go on eBay not so long ago for $70! It's good fun but it's a shame it has no midi - therefore fun but almost useless :)

Actually the most fun to be had was playing the build in demo with a sheep "baaa" :)

Not really a synth, but I just scored a Yamaha SHS-10 keytar for $25 at a pawn shop in Somersworth, NH. Considering what they go for on eBay, that's a h**l of a deal.
Waveforms, and filters, and knobs. Oh my!

Hi everyone! My first post here, long-time lurker..

Cheapest I got was a Roland RS-505 for free (plus a WLM Hit, but that's an organ).
An SH-2000 for €160 was also cheap in my world.

I hate you all

my all time best find EVER was a used Korg EA-1 for what equals about $160

and what could have been the greatest find ever was a beautiful condition MS-20 that went locally for ca $900, but I didn't see the ad until I was home from work and it was snatched already :(

You can make a considerable profit by selling these things on ebay. I sold one for $280 shipped I think, with strap and box not too long ago.

No doubt. I don't have the original box or the manual, but I do have the strap. I figure I'll clean it up and keep it around for a couple months, then if I need some cash, I'll list it on eBay. It's a really cool piece.
