Rev.2 Prophet-5 - multi-tracked, it covers a lot of ground.

1) OB-Xa
2) OB-Xa

I guess I just want an OB-Xa though.

Now I am thinking along the lines of a Cheetah MS-6...

In the first scenario, I would choose a Roland SH-5. In the second, I would choose a Roland SH-5, and write music that played to its strengths.

{I might say "EMS Putney" tomorrow, mind}

Minimoog. Or really, any decent monophonic synth with 2 VCO's (ARP Odyssey, Octave Cat, EML Electrocomp 500 will also do). I wouldn't waste the vintage vibe on a polysynth if I could only have 1 + softsynths / romplers, etc..
I like vintage synths....

Probably a Synthex for them both to be honest.
You always want just one more Synth!

1. Minimoog
2. Jupiter-8

A bit common in this thread, but so what.

I've become somewhat obsessed with the PPG Wave in the last year or so via my use of its softsynth incarnation, so I think I'd have to go ahead and say a Wave for both. I just think its sound perfectly fits my aesthetic and is versatile enough to use for pretty much any sound I want.

if the Waldorf Wave considered as a Vintage synth, I'd take that (fully expanded) as the desert island synth.

1. Jupiter 8

Rev2 Prophet close second.

2. CS-80 - if it would actually be the only instrument im to have, i'd definetely want velocity and poly at.

probably an Oberheim 8 voice, prophet 5, or a jupiter 8... it would have to be something polyphonic for sure, with a good range of sounds

both situations
No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.
