I've found this vid:

Go to 1:30, and you will notice a silver painted DX7. Anyone knows about a custom dx7 in that way?.

Cheers.

PS: Diffictul to embed the video :(

Could it be the DX-7 Centennial?

It's not a Centennial. It looks to me like a DX7 mk1 with a custom paint job to me. The Centennial is a mkII with 76 keys and the buttons are gold colored.

At 2:34 you can see that it has the mk1 type control panel with the green buttons.

Anyway, I think it looked very ugly.

As opposed to the original brown colour?

Not seeing any writing on the case and seeing how shiny it is and that there appear to be lines running horizontally along the surface, I assume that it is not painted but, instead, stripped.

I second that. Definitely some kind of metal imitation strip.
If he would have taken the time to re-write the original texts with some paint or something it wouldn't be that bad.

I admit that the original "sh** brown" color is not really that nice... To my taste of course. If really like "sh** brown" color, it's fine. To each his own as we say.

I think I have seen this one for sale on ebay, ad was posted here. It looked like a scam because they tried to sell it as a "Super limited edition silver DX7", one of a kind blablabla at a hilarious price. I remember we crashed down on it because the text on the synth isn't even the same as the real DX7. Just a bad paintjob, not even made an effort to recreate the standard graphics. Besides, a DX7 without the algorithm printing on the top is a near useless DX7 to me. At least when I program myself.

Comes down to: "Hey, let's buy some old synths, repaint them really badly, and resell them at 4 times the price claiming they are super special one of a kind deals".

I'm happy with the DX7S looks. It's black and white, no "s**t brown" and ugly greenish membrane buttons where the plastic has cracked around the edges over time. Nice hard clicky plastic buttons thank your very much.

Yes WDW, agree with this could be a stripped one. Vid is not clear, but it seems to be a metallic surface.

I don't like that colour, I choose the brown chocolate instead (May I be the only one who like it?). And the only thing I love the most are the green membrane buttons. While no cracked membrane, they are awesome according to my taste! :)

Bitexion, I can remember that auction, as a "very rare" (or so) deal :)
Thanks everyone for the inputs.

Yo, don't be hatin' on the brown DX7 - it was hella cool once ya know? ;)

I mean just imagine an 80s without one.

OK, ok. I admit. It gives it a particular look. I'll say, just for respect towards a classic synth, that it's a nice sh :? :? brown. ON THE DX7 ONLY. Of course.

Does that make you happy? hehe

I liked the green buttons too.

Yeah, they have a nice, clicky feel too.

They do, but the plastic tends to crack around the membrane buttons. I've seen that on several DX7's.
Same with the JX8P membrane buttons.
