Indeed it is. I might have to pick a desktop Blofeld up now...

Not lazy, economical. The circuit board used for the KB will be the same as the module, so they don't have to do any extra R&D or get new boards made up. This keeps the price down and gets it to market quicker.
... and wouldn't a Blofeld with knobs pretty much be the Stromberg?

Dear Waldorf,

It has come to my attention that your recent mockup of a new, keyboard-based Blofeld suffers from what I have termed Claviitis. Claviitis is a disease that causes all of the controls on a synthesiser to congregate into one area and leave a great deal of unused space.

Remedies include: Hiring Japanese people to design your gear.

I'll take the desktop module instead.

Sincerely...

Claviitus is a real problem and affects thousands of synths every year, but it has the advantage of grouping all the controls together under the left hand while the right hand does the key pushing, AKA playing. This results in good ergonomics, as well as the ability to use teh same electronics for the rack/desktop and keyboard versions. ;)

I often wish the master volume control for my MEK was somewhere around the top left of the keyboard so I wouldn't have to reach over to the right side with my left hand while I'm playing to fade stuff up and down. It's not the most annoying thing ever and it's perfectly logical from the point of view of the Evolver's Panel Layout = Signal Flow thing, I just sometimes find the V-Synth better for tweaking while playing.

So left-handed people are just f**k, then? :P (I'm right handed, to be fair, though I can use my left just as well)

I understand the point about using the same electronics.

I guess I'm just blessed with long arms...and a bunch of Sequentix P3's. Yeah, I'm lazy. (And technically speaking...I don't know how to "play the piano"... I just improvise whenever I actually touch the keys with my fingers. Amazing how many key combinations sound like s**t.)

What does this forum mean combinations is spelled wrong? I are good speller!

Isn't this coming or shipping soon.

Anyone think this will have Nord Wave like stuff/sounds/quality?

I'm happy some keyboards suffer from claviitus, that means I could easily put my Blofeld (desktop) on the left side of my D-50 without obstructing any controls or the LCD on the D-50, and use that as MIDI controller.

Scanned this thread and did not see this mentioned (maybe I missed it?) The sample upgrade will be available to desktop Blofeld users for a mere $150.
