My "Customized" MicroKORG

Post by OMNI26 » Thu Sep 18, 2008 9:06 pm

Certainly not a radical customization, but I made new side panels for my MicroKORG.....I made them out of poplar, and painted them with at least 8 coats of red lacquer. Much thicker than the original thin wood side panels, too.

Now it (sort of) matches my Nord Electro & Nord Lead on stage! :)

So it would match my Nord gear onstage, actually.

But, now that it's got both red and green, I suppose it has sort of a Christmas theme, huh?

Depends on exactly what you associate red / green with.

It would certainly looks more nordish on top of the Nord Stage. I'd put a matching nord red sticker on top of the big "program select" knobs for the purpose and overall design.

It makes me want to make a full custom painting of my MK. It would probably be something about painting the whole plastic casing in a Clavia red colour, paint the big knob in the same red or black colour. The endcaps would probably be painted black, just to keep some sort of a frame.
In the end I probably wouldn't do it. Just some concept thoughts

Hmmm.....now you've got me thinking. Yes, a red knob might look cool! Thanks!

Paint a spiral on top of the knob.
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!

I imagined something like this:

And then some wooden pitch and mod wheels in the same style as the pitch stick on the Nord
Clavia: /Nord Lead 2x/
Roland: /AX-Synth/D-50/SH-201/
Korg: /EMX-1/Microkorg/Monotron/MS-20 Mini

Does the word "custom" only apply to cosmetics? Do any of these individual models come with internal changes (like aftertouch)?

That would be Red Green and his nephew Harold.
