Good evening gentlemen and lady persons,

Now is your time to vote for your favourite track in the great

STAYING ALIVE REMIX-ATHON

Our nine contestants have taken that seminal sparkly-sequined disco hit of the 70s, Staying Alive by the Bee Gees, and transformed it in a tumultous cacophonic whirlwind of musical styles, from acid to - to God knows what.

Our contestants have added last-minute finishing touches since you last heard them,
so please download and listen to all the tracks one last time before you make your choice.

Without further ado, I give you the tracks.
  1. Villi - Staying Alive (link)
  2. CS_TBL - Staying Alive (FM8 mix) (mp3)
  3. Jack Spider - Staying Alive (Spidertronic mix) (link)
  4. Original Jambo - Staying Alive (Twice Nightly Whitely mix) (mp3)
  5. Clubbed to Death - Staying Alive (die Roboter mix) (mp3)
  6. Novielo - Staying Alive (link)
  7. Stab Frenzy - Staying Alive (link)
  8. Sexor - Staying Alive (acid mix) (mp3)
  9. Jabberwalky - Staying Alive (madhouse mix) (link)
For a list of instruments etc. used in each remix, please click here. Thanks to everyone who entered their tracks, they were all of a surprisingly good standard.

If you have any comments about the tracks, feel free to add them below.

Cheers

For sake of randomness, can't you offer contestants (who may not all have decent hosting apart from those free-hosting terrors) some VSE space to host entries, for as long as the competition + voting lasts? So, only during challenges 'n stuff! Will probably only eat up some 60..80MB or so.. 8)

The short answer is no. We might look into it for future competitions, though.

JUST IN CASE ANYONE HAS HOSTING PROBLEMS :

There are plenty of free MP3 hosting options available, such as http://www.soundclick.com or http://www.myspace.com which they can host their music on.

If anyone wants to do that, just PM me with the new web page, and I'll edit the poll URL.

Cheers
A

I'm having real trouble deciding between Jabs and Club-club. They're both so awesome! The others are great too, but those two just stand out to me. You should put em on a 7"!

I was thoroughly amused. :)

I'll have to give it a shot next time. Not saying it'll be anything special, but it'd be a fun challenge.

No cheating here*, my robot at the start of it started making unreasonable demands, so I sacked it.

*Whether it constitutes 'singing', is another matter...
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

What I meant was out of 9 people you'd think one could sing naturally without the aid of Auto-Tune. And I was referring to those that actually "sang". :P The vocoding is more like "talking", but still equally as awesome. I wish I had found out about this before it had ended, guess I gotta read in the Off Topic section more often... Then again there'd be a lot of layering considering I only have two monotimbral synths... :P
