Alesis Andromeda Sound Examples

Post by Joey » Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:11 pm

I've heard a lot of good things about this synth, but for the life of me I cannot find any demos that really show off the synth (most of the stuff on youtube is recorded through camera mics, etc)

There are two features in particular I'd like to hear examples of: FM of PWM and soft sync.

I haven't heard examples of either of those things with any synth really; or maybe I just dont know what to look for in identifying them...

If anyone could post up some samples of their andys that would be great

thanks guys

Sure, here's a few (hundred) samples from various sounds and most of the factory presets :)

It's an awesome synth.

If im honest....the womart sound collection are porely recorded and really dont portray the synth as it really sounds.

In my candid opinion....

I really never want to buy another synth, but the demos make me want one.

I suppose I could get rid of a few other synths to make space...... but it's so ugly-looking.

lol, that it is!

I had an A6 in my studio for about 2 years. I liked it as it does sound great, and it does have a lot of knobs, however I felt that I had to dig in the menu way too much while trying to patch up complex sounds. I also thought that the usable range on the 24db filter was too narrow (as applied to the turning of the cutoff pot). Definitely a nice synth though, for sure.
Don't feed me Indian, you WILL regret it!

MP3 files never do justice to any synth, specially analog ones. Too much headroom is shaved off to compress the file.

What those sound examples DO show however, is the range of sounds and type of sounds it can do.
And you have to admit they sound NICE. Just not hi-fi because of the MP3 format and amateur recordings.
I'd guess most of the files are recorded straight into a standard PC soundcard as WAV files and converted to MP3.

It can do polysynth sounds and modular sounds too (if you dare to dive into the mod matrix.)

However it'll never replace my actual modular synth, patch cables are still a different enough way to work with sounds. And it does monosynths too, since there as so many different key trigger types to choose from. You could emulate the always-triggering of the ARP's, and the legato triggering of the Moogs by changing a parameter.

Hey, Bitexion... You really should re-post those A6 demos of yours... Those were among the nicest I ever heard. The CS80 emulation, etc., you know what I'm talkin' about :)

Very nice JZ......much better recordings.

The Womart sound clips definitely demonstrate the synths capabilities in terms of the variety of sounds it can produce....but they often sound muddy, lack presence and clarity (this is obviously not a defining feature of the synth.....but some might think it is on the strength of most onliine clips). From personal experience....the A6 has very good clarity and quite a bright/cutting tone....which I think is a good quality.

yeah the womart ones are horrid quality, i downloaded all of them all at once and just checked them out last night... the recording quality is so bad, did this guy just run straight into the line in of his computer or something?

3000 dollar synth and a s**t recording setup...

sounds like most of us here hahaha

i'll check out juno6's stuff later...

but I could really use some demos of soft sync and FM of PWM more than anything, if anyone could point me to those in action, or just make some demos possibly, that would be great

I dont need anything super complex, just some simple demos that show off how those features sound doing basic sounds...

Sure, I'll put em up later when I get home on putfile. They're all sitting on my harddrive, I just didn't have anywhere to put them online.
