I made this thread a while back: http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewt ... =1&t=39605

It's for creating that sound on the Alesis Andromeda. But the settings should at least get you close in the direction.. using most 2 oscillator synths I would imagine.
Well fffff.

It's dead easy in FM8. May look up later today how I did it..

a 2-op model in FM8:

[E]->[F]

E: triangle wave, ratio 1 and a long decay envelope, op.velocity 32

F: short tristate wave, ratio 2 and a long decay envelope, op.velocity 25

E modulatorlevel to F: around 70

F: some extra fuzz by feedbacking F to F with 10..15

key scaling for E: personal choice, I didn't add any myself.

A unison of 4 made it sound meaty over here..

Variations to experiment with: other ratios than 2 for the carrier [F], modulatorlevel coming from [E]

That should create a very fine laserharp.. :P

If you own an Elka Synthex, look through the factory patches 3x-4x ; it's somewhere there.
I *think* patch 42, but I'm not fully sure.

On other synths it's hard (read: impossible) to recreate exactly this sound (maybe you can equal the lower sounds, or higher sounds, but not both; sorry... Unless with a lot of overdubbing, or when it doesn't have to be exactly the same sound.

Can you record it across the octaves? I like a challenge now and then.. :P

Say, each octave, or each 5th or whatever scale, as long as it makes the difference clear between low and high.

"Exactly" - probably. But "awfully close"? Sure! http://www.perkristian.net/Virus_KB_Audio.htm -> LaserHarp.

I once posted all the Elka Synthex panel settings for this sound, don't seem to have it anymore but pretty sure Bitexion has it somewhere....

The AN1X is excellent for this (and other Jarre sounds)as the symphonic chorus can sound very much like the Synthex's rich analogue chorus FX.

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=12e4 ... 3a172933bb

VCO sync with a touch of ring mod and feedback with a slow decay on the pitch envelope and plenty of chorus tho it has been a while since I made the patch and I don't own an AN1X anymore.

The Supernova 2 has a preset called "Rondezvous 2 harp" at loc: E071 that does it pretty close [edit:remember to look at the keyboard to make sure you hit the right buttons next time!]

and I thought I was the only person into synths in Preston (well it seemed that way when I went upstairs in soundcontrol)

You'd be very surprised at some of the synths that can be found around these parts bud.

I even saw a Synthex up for sale here in Preston a little while ago.
