New Serge tutorial online - Alphabet Soup #1: The SSG

Post by carbon111 » Sat Dec 20, 2008 9:12 pm

This may be of interest to some of you...

It's the first in a series of introductory articles I'm doing, each focusing on a specific Function Block (module) of the Serge Modular synthesizer.

The Dual Universal Slope Generator is one of the most flexible synthesizer modules ever conceived as it can be patched to cover so many very different functions and yet, in some ways, remains very simple in concept. The low-level building blocks engender marvelous complexity!

The Page can be reached directly:

...or through my Index of Serge Modular webpages:

Same here... It's on top of my wanted list, but after the amount of $$ I have been spending for my CS-80, I'll have to save for a long time and I'm afraid it would cost me a divorce. #-o

The Universal Slope Generator is one of a handful of Serge modules to see an authorized eurorack version as the Bananalogue Serge VCS, though currently out of production, it's an example of something from Serge that not too long ago was not way up there in price.

It's still not too bad at all when you can get four "slope generators" as well as a couple of Scaling Buffers in a Quad Slope M-odule for $1650...and that's with STS's phenominal build quality. :love10:

...I'm actually extremely jazzed as I Just mailed of a check off to STS for a Gator M-odule! I'm very exited to pair this up with my Creature and have a "portable" System I can drag around with me. :D :D :D

I'll post a review after it arrives and I've had a chance to spend some time with it!
