This little bobby pin reeked havoc on my poor SX-400 :(

just bought a PC2x for $25, brought it home, opened it up, and had the pleasure of removing 5 living black widows and about a dozen dead ones, along with about a half-pound of solid, caked-on (or is that "in") dirt. need a power supply before i can see if it works, but considering the boards all look to be in perfect condition, i've got high hopes.

the worst part about finding the spiders was remembering how i rode in my friend's car with the keyboard sitting on my lap, all the way home, playfully bonking the keys.

I found two of those in my D-20 after my friend had borrowed it for a couple of months. Must have served as his girlfriends nightstand or something, which I think was quite unresponsible.

yeah definitely... too bad the key bonking didn't kill the rest of them.
(i HATE spiders.)

you're telling me! i first started taking the thing apart in my living room, since that's where everyone was hanging out. i took the end caps off and peered down the length of the keyboard with a flashlight, announcing to everyone, "i don't know, there's a few spiderwebs here and there, but i don't see anything living. just a few dried up dead ones." while still looking inside, i wiggled the pitch wheel and one of the pesky little things dropped down and scurried further inside. i grabbed my buddy and had him help me carry it out to the back porch, where i could take it apart piece by piece with care.

i generally don't mind insects or spiders much, but the kind that can leave you scarred or dead get a little reverence from me. it was a skin-crawlingly good time.

oh, and for the record, a PC2x will just fit in an '07 Toyota Corolla's backseat with you underneath it, if you lift one end so it rests on the windowsill.

I received a tube Leslie 45 for free once. When it arrived home, I discovered that the two bottom compartments were home to a huge rats nest. These were conscientious however, and after a good (intense!) cleaning, the Leslie worked perfectly:

My friends prophet 5 has strange dark gooey marks on it that ermm... may or may not be hash oil.

He got the synth off Cevin from Skinny Puppy, needless to say, he is NOT cleaning it off.

I've found all kinds of stuff in instruments and amps that have come in for repairs, including some real horror stories.

One particular DX7 has come in a couple of times with mud dauber wasp nests in it - luckily the wasps were all dead each time. I'm expecting it back again this spring - it's that time of year again, you know? Clean it up before summer for the guy.

The worst had to have been the Ensoniq that, upon opening it up, literally had dead insects pouring out of it, like some horror film scene. Blargh! I get the shivers just thinking about it. Yuck.

I've also had live mice inside a couple of different amplifier chassis (plural). Always wondered how the h**l they really got in there and how they didn't electrocute themselves!

I found chocolate on the inside of a Prophet 600... (At least I hoped it was chocolate!)

My babysitter found this little chap, a long, long dead lizard, in the SH5 when it misbehaved. I think he washed his hands for like an hour afterward, the poor bastard. The things he endured for me while I was in Ireland...
Yours,
Niall.

There is a living grasshopper inside my Polysix. Gives it a great, natural buzz.

I also found a Moog Source inside my girlfriend.
