a buddy of mine bought what was supposedly the DMX that RUN-DMC used on "sucker mc's", etc from an engineer at chung king(believable, as they tracked there). he took it to a tech to have it checked out and there was apparently a crack rock inside it.

on several occasions, i've also found a magical odorless gas inside synths that makes you wish you were blowing your brains out instead of fault-finding. then there's a different gas that seems to give off some sense of accomplishment. very odd.

Bob Weigel claims he found a bees nest in a Crumar Multiman.

But that doesn't beat the black widows for sure. Lot's of folks diss Canada but the matter of fact is that, even though it's really cold here, there aren't any insects that could possibly kill or scar anyone, even a small kid (except for bees maybe, but we still have the regular non-killer kind).

Booya!

Strangest thing i found in a synth: love in an elka rhapsody 610.

Speaking of factory boxes. I was opening a behringer keyboard at amp box at guitar center one day. I cut the tape, flipped the box over to set the amp on the counter and a home-made razor blade shiv fell out on to the counter top. It was a progressive razor blade that had some foam tape wrapped around the handle. I thought that either Behringer is really cutting back on boxing supplies, or there is some hairy s**t going down in the behringer packing plants!

when i used to work at Toys R Us, i was opening a box of action figures, which had "inner packs" (more, smaller boxes) inside. in between the bigger, outer box and the inner packs was a box cutter and a Chinese factory worker's photo ID card. i kept it for fun, but i have no idea where it is. i forgot all about that until i read your post just now!

poor guy, hope he didn't get in trouble for losing his ID.

I once found a note from God in the back of a PolySix..

but for real, a playing card (Ace or something), a really old magazine and an old 100 Crown bill, all inside some P.O.S. Kawai home-organ..

Oh my Rhodes had some dust in it, I kept it, hoping that it was from some famous musician

true story: I got my Korg Polysix when I was about 16. There was something rolling around in it that I could not figure what it exactly was. When I opened it up there was a little baggie of cocaine taped between two styrofoam peanuts ...

As mentioned in my CS-15 thread, I've found a paperclip and that was about it.

Dead cockroach was found in my Akai AX-60. Seemed rather fitting, given its sound.

No finding, but I bought my Jupiter 8 from a guy who had left it in storage from 1991 to 2007. First chance I got to open it, I was surprised not to find anything strange in it.
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

couple of joints inside the miniD, no idea of whether my bandmates in the mid 70's put it there or the original owner or factory dropped them in to help get that vibe.
