Making a case for it out of a suitcase and lots of foam. What a paid! I wish it folded up. I need a flat synth or somethin'!

Anyone else find this?

I don't have a Phatty myself, but the cases I've seen for them are giant in proportion to the LP's footprint.

Yes, A very silly shape... if it was shaped like a MEK, Moog would sell more I would think.

Hehe, I owned an MEK at one point, prettyy different sound to my ears. Much better shape for casing

From a programming/playing perspective I like the shape. Too bad it doesn't fold down like a mini.

I bought an LP in the US when the dollar rate was really low compared to the Swedish krona. The effort of bringing it home with me with that weight and awkward shape made me wonder many times if it wouldn't have been better if i just bought it in Sweden.

This is especially frustrating when you realize that the chassi is mostly empty. A foldable minimoog-like design would not have been impossible here but they decided to make it this heavy air filled piece of metal with tiny circuitboards inside. It's a great synth though and the amount of metal in it sort of makes it feel like a quality instrument (which is probably the basic idea).

Basically they could easily have slimmed down the size and weight of this thing but they decided not to. For the tribute edition with the wood sides, that's great. With the stage edition's plastic cheeks it sort of ruins the effect in my opinion. (That, and the fact that they user a giant sticker for the front panel.)

I'm done complaining now. It really is a great instrument though.

Shape? Yes, Sound, not necessarily...just different.

The LP shape is almost as bad as the Korg MS20.

I had an MS20 and it fit in a projector case, but the moog is quite a bit wider and longer

So do you buy synths for playing or for carrying around? And how do you think tuba players would feel if they saw this thread?

I'm kidding. I love every aspect of the shape and design of my MS10... except for it's portablity.

Hehe, I also play double bass so I feel their pain. A flight cased double bass SUCKS on a plane!

Yeah, I buy music stuff for carrying around as much as playing, I live in New Zealand, to tour anywhere you have to get in a plane and fly for 10 hours. The Little Phatty was a little oversight in that regard, but not really. I mean, we're not talking about a CS80 here

BTW. I loved that "our house is very small"-song, and the video for it. Any chance you're playing in Scandinavia when you're in Europe?

Kidding aside, tuba's don't differ in shapes like synths do... moog chose to design the LP wacky.
