Your dream synth setup

Post by CuBulo » Sun May 31, 2009 8:38 pm

Share what your dream setup would be, live or studio.

My live set would be tr-909, tr-808, tb-303, LinnDrum, Juno 106, Novation Bass-Station rack, Emu sp1200, Mackie cr-1604, a crapload of guitar pedals, and Doepfer Maq 16/3. Thats my dream set but Im not rich so I don't have any of that :(

My dream studio setup would be what I have now plus an MPC-1000 or 2000/2000xl, a Sid Station, and some sort of analog mono and an analog poly.

Pretty much what I have. Add the Teenage Engineering OP-1, all the Metasonix stuff ever made, and all of the Electro Harmonix pedals ever made, and I'd be set.

No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.

i'm pretty much there with my studio as far as synths. what i plan to add, would be more analog outboard, a drum machine like 909 or miami, more modular stuff (macbeth), a sml analog console and a minimoog.

well, of course, if i had huge funds, then i'd add a Steinway B, and some Schoeps & stereo tube Neumann 69 to capture it in its beauty. replace my microwave with a PPG wave2.0, get xpander, grey arp2600, cs80, kyma pacarana, get even more outboard like 2 api500 racks full of pres, eqs etc. and something to connect it all like SSL AWS900. and then i'd wake up.. :)

live i have my dream setup already. but it be nice to have two roadies (with brains) to set it all up for me, so i don't have to. im using A6+JP8+SH2+Rhodes+XT.

well phuk mei, i forgot the Studer A827, EMT 140 and Fairlight IIx in my dream studio. how could i? 8)

I think I have my dream setup studio wise, except I'd add a wurly and maybe a B3. Live I'd like a tube leslie like I have in the studio, ideallly a 44w, and a wurly to go with my CX-3..

Probably:

MEK
V-Synth
Virus Ti2
MS 20
YC-45D
Juno-6
MPC2500/LinnDrum II (Depending on the final LDII design)
KSP-8
H3000
H8000FW
RE-201
All the Moogerfoogers
A nice big modular
Neotek Elan II
PT HD3 system
A nice sounding room for it all
Comfy chair for me
Comfy couch for bands

But really I'll be happy when I get a room to put all the stuff I've got now in, I don't really need anything more to make music, more stuff would mostly just be for playing with. :)

edit: Really should add a FutureRetro XS. :)

I already own a LinnDrum and an LM-1 Drum Computer, so as far as my dream setup goes, I want to add the following:

Drum Machines
Oberheim DMX
Oberheim DX
Roland TR-808
Roland TR-909

Synths
Roland's Jupiter-8 and Juno-60
Sequential Circuits's Prophet-5
Oberheim's OB-X and OB-Xa
MiniMoog

For now, however, virtual emulations of each synth will do just fine in putting together demos of the tracks I'm working on.

To own only four or five synths.

That will never happen. I sold a ton and still am in the f**k teens. The less you own, the better.

How come if you think this you don't just sell some stuff? It's not that hard.

Ha. You know why!

Stupid, sexy synths. Haha.

I've sold everything that I had just to have, those synths you only use a handful of times. But I'm still left with 3 analog polys, 5 mono synths, two Nords (3 and the Wave), etc.

Certain synths are just too awesome to let go of.... even if I want to.

A room with seven or eight big, expensive pieces of the same vintage (or nearly) as me:

ARP 2600
ARP Odyssey Mk1
Oberheim 4-Voice
Oberheim OB-8
Moog Prodigy (not as big or expensive as the others, I know)
Roland Jupiter-8
Sequential Prophet-5 (Rev.2 of course... just to wind up the folks who say Threes sound the same  )

Add a couple of more modern classics (a Little Phatty or Voyager OS, a Future-Retro XS, and a Macbeth) and I think I could be sated.

I'd like to grow old with a setup like that.

- PPG Wave 2.3
- Korg Trident MkII
- Oberheim OB-X (8-voice)
- Fairlight CMI IIx
- Roland System 700 (Lab Series)
