Nice! Thanks for posting that.

The JX boards do seem to work well layered. I've been piling up a JD-990 with a JX-10 and JX-8P lately and it's so deep and vast sounding. I only wish I had a Wavestation A/D in the mix for some high end temporal motion.

The TG33 is the most rewarding to layer - it has some cracking good sounds (esp. strings!) for such a cheapy but it's slightly lofi nature means it sometimes needs to be toned down with something a little smoother like the MKS-70 or SY77.

I no longer have the Virus, but an Access Virus b layered with a Roland JD-990 doing stringpad work was a thing of wonder.

cheers,
Ian

I've been digging the MEK through a Leslie 825 sitting on a hammond m100 through a 710. it may not be stereo but the "chorus" really animates the evolver

my Revolution playing identical patterns with my DX200 is a wonderful combo. adds some welcome space and (depending on what i'm playing) epic-ness to a standard 303-style pattern.

I sit down to play I'm Klaus Schulze with one voice of my DotCom Midi-layered with a string patch of my K Station (kind of farfisa synthrorchestra), to solo, the other voice of the DotCom doing an ostinato sequence and playing a string pad in the Juno 60. Hours of lush fun!

i love layering and it's usually a spur of the moment type thing, but one combo i go to repeatedly is aj2->jv1010 strings...that sweet-tooth roland filter playing some filter-swept whooshes with noise behind strings makes for some lovely nigel godrich-esque sounds.

Oberheim Matrix 6 + Korg MS-10 through Kaoss Pad. Simple, but effective.
