That looks like one awesome piece of software. Thanks!

I have a question for Tetra owners. Is programming the sequencer realistic without the software? I just don't want to have to use a software editor, but really want to use it like an analog drum box. Thanks!

Absolutely not. If you don't want to be using a software editor then stay well clear of this baby. Without the software editor it's like trying to program a ZX81! With it, and a decent MIDI controller, it's an absolute joy ;)

also, i dont understand the whole marketing as drum machine thing. it's only a gated sequencer, you need a midi sequencer to get it right in time. no way to press the push it button to the right time in live situations. it would be only a matter of software updates to implement a "standard" sequencer, that starts running when a clock is sent to it. that would be great. tetra wishlist soon to follow ;)

It's more accurate to say 'functions as a drum module' than as a drum machine.
The hardware has the four individual outs for each voice round back.
Run each through additional outboard, pedals etc...

Use the drum machine you already own and trigger the Tetra as an analog drum box or any software sequencer that outputs MIDI.

To give the soft editor a true sequencer and have it not built into the hardware (with some sort of buttons/sliders) makes no sense. The only thing I could see are the eight knobs being pushed down- triggers the steps and the rotation changes values.

I meant that this could be implemented in the firmware, not only the editor. Hardwarewise everything needed is there, so no problem (pushing the buttons is not possible, so that would require a hardwareupdate):

add a selection: "gated sequencer" or "real sequencer"
"real sequencer" starts the sequencer with a midi clock start signal
add another selection: "4 sequences" or "chain sequences"
"4 sequences" is standard, 4 different sequencers per voice
"chain sequences" is chaining the 4 sequences to get a 64 step pattern

as soon as i have my wishlist together, i'll post it here. you guys can add stuff, and i will send it to dave smith.

my point is, I want to use this as 4voice sequencer for stabs and stuff like that, not for drums. if i trigger the sequencer with a drum machine i already own, i had to adjust the osc pitches or sequencer data to the note that is sent by the instument of the drum machine that triggers the tetra. and that's the smaller problem, the bigger problem is that this particular drum machine has no other use then, only triggering the tetra (because i dont own a drum machine that can output the mididata of each instrument in different midichannels; and i dont know one that does that). i bought it for live, and im not gonna take a drum machine with me just to trigger the tetra. then i'd rather go for the rm1x that is gathering dust in my closet, or for a laptop, or another midisequencer...
