Re: NEW DSI Tetr4 -4 voices of Mopho In a Box!
Cool idea...
I think I have a love/hate relationship with DSI. I've owned all of his products (except the PEK) at one time but in the end never kept any. I did not particularly dislike any of them but in the end I liked something else better and it was usually down to sound quality. I guess I'm not a huge fan of the synth-on-a-chip analog sound. That's not to say that I hate the DSI sound character, I just like other stuff a bit more... For the money though, no other company gives you as much bang for your buck.
This has a great many possiblities. The mopho has the bass that the P'08 seems to be lacking. If this could be used both as 4 monos and polyphonically it's a very cheap way to get a new poly analog if you can live with only 4 voices and perhaps not the best interface. Used as monos this could easily serve as a four voice drum machine if you can't wait for the Linndrum.

I think it's a pretty win idea, I imagine he sells more mophos than evolvers or p08s.
but not everybody likes using computers and I know I'll never plug my mopho into some editor I have to download. and having a polysynth I need an editor for is balls. I think it will not be popular with the old school plug and play/tweakers.
But a polysynth in a small box like that with a cheap price will probably sell pretty well but he might as well make it a 6 voice... 4 is just weird.

Could this be as simple as a prophet 8 in a mopho box? Meaning no sub osc, etc.

That's what I was thinking. LDII will need a board with a 4 voice analogue synth on it, it shouldn't be too hard to put that board in a different case and have it as a stand-alone synth.masstronaut wrote:Also I wonder if this might have some relation to the analogue side of the LDII.

No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.

... or we could think of this as Dave's Expander for the P08 to make it 12 voices with a sub osc.
Prophet 08, Mini D, Radias, 2 x JD-990, Juno-60, 2 x JP-8080, Fantom X6, Speakeasy Stereo Rackmount Vintage Tube Preamp ...

Re: NEW DSI Tetr4 -4 voices of Mopho In a Box!
wouldn't it be 4 voices because of the doubling thingy that they always do with polyphony? i mean it tends to go 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 etc...6 doesn't really fit in to menadafarms wrote:I think it's a pretty win idea, I imagine he sells more mophos than evolvers or p08s.

this is a pretty hot idea for a synth tho. i think a tetr4 (i do not love the name) plus an evolver would be just killer!
that's not dirt, that's chili sauce!

conversely, I had the PEK and eventually decided I liked the MEK a LOT more. 4 voices was both too many and too few. In this case, I would probably see myself just wanting a p08 (not that I do, but...) maybe the whole idea is 4 monosynths rather than a 4-voice synth, especially in that small size.hyphen nation wrote:nice, yeah, my head is starting to drift that way myself...Joey wrote:i just want a poly evolver...

God damnit....
I was meant to have bought a car a year ago, but gearlust keeps screwing me over!!!
I was going to buy a car in a few weeks with my tax return, but if this tetr4 business is out soon... well.. I guess I wouldn't need to leave home so much if I had one.
