Some people like hardware. Some like software. Some like both.
I like hardware. Hands on, don't have to look at a computer screen, sounds good.
I like software. Flexibility, convenience and variety. Sounds good too.
Sometimes I prefer playing with software, other times I prefer playing with hardware.
I think it might be fun to treat software purchases as we might treat hardware purchases, i.e. pick a small number of synths that cover a lot of ground, then get to really know them. Hardware, software, it's all the same really.
If I went software-only, I'd still want to have one hardware instrument just to be able to switch it on and chill out with, so I don't have to sit in front of the computer. Hmmm, so that's not really "software only".
Now I'm going round in circles. Like this thread.
