Re: 80's synth pics
This one is from the murky depths of the 80's:

Funny thing is, the red haired guy looks exactly like me. Seriously, when I first saw this picture, I tried to remember "when was that again?"

Re: 80's synth pics
That looks like a New Yorker cartoon made into an ad.
Re: 80's synth pics
The Memorymoog pictured in the Moog advert below (from Feb 1981!) must be a very early prototype because I'm pretty
certain it wasn't publically released until Oct/Nov 1982. Cosmetically there appear to be very slight differences between this one and the production model. I wonder why it took so long for them to release it to the market. The Polymoog has a similar history, the first prototype appeared around the summer of '75 but the fully revised production model didn't come out
until late '76. A dozen or so pre/test-production PM's had been around prior to that but only a limited number of artists had access to those; eg Patrick Moraz, Larry Fast, Rick Wakeman, Chick Corea etc.

This one is awesome!
Is it your dad?

I love the spacey-silver suits!
That PPG ad is ridiculously cool.
And that Moog ad is like it's from the 50's or 60's!

This is the very pic that got me hooked. I still have the magazine I bought where it was on the backside.xpander wrote:someday, i'll own a PPG. someday.Mooger5 wrote:To me this is the best 80s ad. First off, I recall the ROCKER LAUNCHER thing from somewhere. This really cracked me up. I wish i could see that again, wherever that was from.tekkentool wrote:i love the way the other guy is tied up in cables!, because we use so many on keyboard-synths.CZ Rider wrote:Those 80's adds are great!
Can't help but wonder, what are they doing now?
Guitarist in my band posed for that one.
P.S it's not just a synthesizer, it's a ROCKER LAUNCHER
Secondly, that Casio ad makes no damn sense. Why do i feel like that greasy mullet guy ran up and threw that other fellow all those cords, and then ran back for the righteous pose? No wonder the other guy is so confused. He is sitting there going "Here I was about to play my awesome sounding and easy to use Juno 106, and I get ambushed by some Don Johnson looking guy. What are these damn cords for...? Whirlpool? Maytag? What?!"
We all know that kid is only playing presets, so who is he crapping.
