CV Compatibility between SH-101 and Mono/Poly

Post by jsquarewave » Thu Oct 01, 2009 11:47 pm

I've been playing analog synths for a few years now, but am now just recently getting into synching them via midi and CV. I know there are two or three different types of CV, and that none of them like each other. So my question is this: Are my SH-101 and Mono/Poly linkable without buying some kind of converter? I'm finding conflicting information on the interweb.

Thanks!

They both use 1V/octave for pitch. The gates I'm not sure about but would be surprised it it didn't work. Just plug it in and try it, the worst that can happen is that it won't trigger.

Both synths are compatible as they both use Volt per Octave CV scaling. Usually, Korg uses Volt/Hz rather than Volt/Octave.

Here's a video I made last summer for a fellow VSE'r where I control a SH-101 & MonoPoly with a TB-303:

MOOG - - - - V/OCT - - - - NEGATIVE

I also attest to the compatibility of the two. I used to own them both and link the two all the time. Never had an issue with the gates. Both are great synths.. enjoy!

The Gate can be switched between - or + triggers. The M/P uses V/Oct however. I used my x0xb0x to sequence it when i had my M/P. The ARP can only be triggered via a -trigger though.
