Prophet 08 knob question

Post by bhrama » Mon Jan 04, 2010 7:36 pm

Recently picked up a used P-08, and have fallen into a virtual sonic blackhole! Only issue I have, and it seems other owners do as well is the "cheap" feel of the knobs. I realized before my purchase that the new versions have remedied this. Does anyone know of a field retro-fit, or modification package? I've emailed DSI, but haven't heard back from them as to if they offer a factory upgrade, or in-field mod kit.

DSI does offer an upgrade to the PE edition for the P'08.

See here: http://store.davesmithinstruments.com/p ... php?cat=13

They offer a DIY kit and also a factory-installed kit.

EDIT: organsymphony beat me to it...

That may be a bit off topic, but still about P'08 :-) Thomann's got the P'08 module PE version in stock but there seems to be no info about the module PE on the DSI website.

There is no P'08 PE module that I'm aware, yet.

I'm sure it'll come, especially if enough people jump on the P'08 PE keyboard, and/or upgrade their non-PE P'08s.

Consider yourself made aware.

Good news.

I remember hearing about this one time but I lost track. I've had enough problems with my early edition P08 that I could be a testimonial in a before/after commercial for the Prophet 08. I love the sequencer but you have to point a gun at me to make me want to tweak the encoders on that beast. $300 bucks to remedy this condition sounds like a good idea.

I just got a '08 and yes, the PE knobs feel solid and make this board all around "tight". I can't wait to drop red wheels (pitch/mod) in this baby. I tried to upload a pic of it with it's family (Prophet 5 Rev. 2, Prophet 600, Prophet VS, Split8, PolyEvolver) , but no go.

I look fwd to seeing your pics with the red wheels. I'll get around to ordering the pot kit as the enoder issues do lead to frustration but right now I am tied up with other things that take priority.

anyone know where you could get the colored wheels without having to buy the full upgrade kit?
