What?!? You mean it doesn't even do a good piano sound?

c**p.

It doesn't have to be good. Just be passable for different types of synth sounds.

Mine arrived today!

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it will probably be twice as good as the original DS-10.

I'll probably be up late playing with it 'til the wee hours of the morning.

rather unsurprising hypothesis.

A few initial thoughts and things I noticed:

Dual Mode only works on a DSI.

Besides doubling the number of synth and drum parts, Dual mode gives you a little more flexibility. You can. for instance, put different effects on different parts. In Single Mode the options are dealy, chorus, or flange and you can put one of those on either thr drums, either or both synthsm or everything. Dual Mode gives you the ability to do something like delay on some of the drum or synth parts (leaving the rest dry) and chorus on some or all of the other drum or synth parts. In other words, you can run two effects at once and you don't have to have effects on all of the drums if you don't want to.

Having double the parts means you can also put two different variations of the same snare or kick part and pan them hard right and left for a nice thick sound.

Of course, chords are now a possibility, having four synths parts instead of two to work with.

I am not sure if it would be worth getting the plus if you already have the regular DS-10 but it makes me almost glad I left mine on the the plane.

I sure hope whoever found it enjoys my sequences....

Oh, and for what it's worth. I hate the box art on the Plus.

The old art on the original was much better...downright classy in its understatement.

I just got mine yesterday! It was kinda funny my gf ordered it for me for christmas so it came to her house. She called me last night and there was no one there so I figured she butt dialed me or something then she calls back and I hear this buzzing sound, it almost sound like radio interference or something then I heard some off kilter drum sounds start up and I relized she was attempting to play with my ds10. I got to her house and started fooling around with it and she was looking at me and was like "how the h**l did you get that to do anything?!" so I told her "eh, im just awesome that's all" :D

Surely chords were always a possibility, Tune one of the synth's to 5th's and get the other one to fill it in..

Now it's easier.

Tuning the voices leaves you stuck with fifths (or whatever interval you used). Now you can just adjust the individual notes on the fly.

Diminished 7th chords? in my ds-10? it's more likely than you think.

Well you could use the kaoss pad to modulate the individual vcos and lock them into a particular key, not incredibly percise but you won't be stuck with 5th or 7ths or what have you

Cumulus:
What do you think of the sound quality? It's supposed to be better due to the new converters, but is it noticable?

It sounds better to me. Trouble is, I haven't had the DS for over a month so I can't do a side-by-sid comparison.

All of my son's little friends have DS's though, so maybe I could record a sequence on each and play them next to each other.

That would entail some effort that I just might not want to put out. though....
