£79.99 from dolphin music. includes a voucher to get akai's synth app for free and can also be used as a standard usb controller i believe.

i'd not seen the ion one before.

I was wondering what the Alesis/Akai equivalent would be...

That one looks absolutely brilliant. Akai say they'll be releasing the code so that the keyboard could be used to control other iPhone/iPod soft synths as well:

No I definately have to get an iPhone :( ;)

but half the sound of bebot comes from the touch screen control with the legato and locking and whatnot

Anyone know if it's compatible with the iPod? Also, are the other various apps compatible with the iPod as well? Now I'm thinking both music software and other. Thing is I'm considering picking up an iPod instead, as that would be much cheaper.

Unless they use a specific iPhone feature, iPhone apps are all compatible wih the iPod touch. The ones I've tried have all been fine.

Awesome. But will the iPod Touch fit in the Akai controller?

Yeah, form factor & connection wise, it's identical.
