Looking for modular synth video

Post by freemind » Fri Jan 29, 2010 7:34 am

Hi, guys!
I am looking for one classic video - it has been posted here thousand times before, but I can not find it on youtube now. It was a TV show from the 60s or 70s (I think it was even black and white, but I am not sure) with old lady playing few pure electronic tunes on really huge modular synthesizer.
Does it ring a bell?

Was it a video with Delia Derbyshire, perhaps?

the look and sound of that thing: AWESOME. she looks like gilda radner in this clip. funny how they have this incredibly elaborate prototype and they basically just plunk it on an office desk. gotta love the '70s.

I'm trying to find the video when Ciani is using the Buchla to make the sodapop commercial sounds...

It used to be on YouTube but no longer is...

I'm guessing the engineer is Leslie Ann Jones, featured in TapeOp mag this month (you can hear Suzanne refer to "Leslie"). Probably not a lot of female engineers named Leslie, especially back then.

If it is Leslie Ann, she's one of the best, regardless of gender. IIRC, she's still Ops Manager for Skywalker Sound.
Her father was Spike Jones (NOT Jonez). You may have to Google him if you're under 50. :)
