yeah the ms20 is hz/v and the moog is v/oct. but you can kind of work around it when using the "vco freq in" or "total in" in the top row of the MS patch panel. those are v/oct too. intensity knob has to be all the way up to 10. you'd also need to convert the moogs v-trigger to an s-trigger, the MS ESP can do that

arp is v/oct too.

it's not perfect that way with the ms20, but it works. be prepared to spend some time adjusting the tune ;)

Hey mates,

That's a wonderful thread!

I got during this 1.5 months a KORG MS-10 & a KORG MS-20. :roll:
I love them & learning them every single day... Inspired.

I want to share with you my Organ Generator patch. Enjoy it as I do! :P

Just a teaser:

Image

A project i started working on that might interest other Korg MS users.
It will come in MS expander style module.

* Two additional LFO's (one all the way up to audio range)
* Signal Combiner
* PWM
* VCO Out (FM)
* Inverter
* Lag
* Sample and Hold
* Infrared and Violet Noise Generators
* Absolute value
* Multiples

Current progress of the project:

I can't give any exact date. I will let you know when it becomes available. I just wanted to let you folks know about what i'm building and it won't cost you ridiculous amount of money as MS-50 does.

Here is a nice snare patch for the MS20:

Image

The trick is to get the HPF resonance to act ast the "body" of the snare, via EG1.

EG2 release can then be tweaked for overall snare decay.

I made a small demo of the patch, along with an SH-101 kick and a Pro-One hihat. Sequenced with triggers out of an MPC1000.

Unprocessed to start with, but a bit of reverb/delay later on.

I like this thread! Keeping it alive!

Don't ask me why, but I made a "sheep" patch recently. I really think it sounds quite convincing. Haha, I loved this patch so much that I didn't unpatch it for more than a week. A couple of times I was working on a track, reached for the MS20, but realized "Oh no! The sheep patch! I have to keep it!". So finally I got around to writing it down and making a short recording of it. All of which is posted here for your entertainment:

Image

The trick that "makes" the patch is pink noise acting as a control source for the LFO modulation amount, via the extra VCA. Also it's important to set the HPF just right, to get the right formant of the sheep's voice.

The MS20 eh? A sheep in wolf's clothing! :lol:

Thanks :)

I felt so sad when I finally unpatched it. It felt like... like..... killing a living creature... :(
