Aimee Mann on Austin City Limits

Post by stormborn » Tue Feb 23, 2010 4:20 am

Was watching this performance today - some very cool songs, but what really struck me is that I'd never seen a band quite like this one before:

Five pieces:
1. Acoustic guitar + vocals
2. Bass guitar + backing vocals
3. Drums
4. Hammond, organs, etc
5. Piano, Rhodes and Minimoog Voyager

The reason I'm posting it here is that the Voyager features pretty prevalently in some of the songs, which are in a style that usually doesn't feature much in the way of that sort of thing.

It's kind of a throwback to the first two Til Tuesday albums. Those two records have outstanding keyboard/synth work if anyone is interested. I just wish Aimee would break out her wicked slap bass technique once in a while. Thanks for the link!
