Korg R&D seem on the money more than ever these days, and the styling and interfaces are really nice with most new Korg gear, whilst Roland's could be much better, also if the GAIA (which actually looks pretty horrible to me aesthetically) is anything like the 201, build quality seems to be going worryingly downhill at Roland.

And haven't already we had an SH-01? Well, something damn close anyways, Roland must be pretty short of numbers for the SH series by now, feels a bit like Deja Vu

Radikal Technologies (Spectralis) are unveiling a new hybrid synth keyboard called Accelerator.
I'm waiting on Jorg to post the images and product demos on the Radikal forum.
I can't wait to see this.

Is it really a hybrid though? Looks fun!

The Monotron for only $67 is amazingly cheap. Not super interested in tiny toy synths, but like dino said, how can you not support this. I think Korg is seeing what kind of reaction and market there would be for them if they went further with an analog synth.

Ya know, I do believe somewhere else on their site I read it was a hybrid also. The Spectralis has that analog voice and the 3 DSP voices. Now that you mention it, it will either be a hybrid or all analogue. Not sure. Not that the DSP synths sound bad at all.

Beyond that, I'm not really excited about any more toys or gadgets. Most of us slide into that range of having a bunch of stuff and not really NEEDING anything else. So something new would have to be really new and add on to our studios. I want a drum machine. A super-duper drum machine that will take front and center and become the bit of kit that I turn on first and off last.

I would also like it to have a sound that has an impact on music production. Which sort means it wont be surrounded by controversial threads regarding whether it sounds like something that already exists.

As far as what we're seeing early so far, they seem like nice distractions or something you would get if the product 'looked' sexy enough. And of course we're all going on looks as of right now...

I was going to say that I doubt it works that way. I think most of them look at what's already working and lean in that direction. When people go crazy over a tough screen doo-dad on a synth- you make it its own product....

That Gakken piece which generated all kinds of hype is probably inspiring tons of companies. I would release something like it if I could. $100 dollar limit, analogue, mini keys and DC power. Make it look weird with lots of knobs. I'd sell a million and retire to a tropical island with a girl that's shamefully young. And maybe read the forums every so often.

The Lucina adds say it all, but it's funny that 'dudes' can't imagine a musical instrument pitched at...women...

From what Ive read, its an 8 stereo track sampler. It appears to be some kind of live remixer with a sequencer built in.

Theres a small spec list sround on the elektron users forum, but its lost somewhere in all the fan hype...

I think it's a phrase sampler, kind of like the roland sp404. Looks very nice. Im interested to see the sequencers capabilities. Ive been thinking about getting an MDUW also, and theres mention of a MDUW+ and a MnM+, some kind of internal upgrade... maybe its a memory upgrade for the UW, although I have no idea...

I can definitely see people buying the whole set...

I think the UW+ & MnM+ will have USB and CF storage, i once badgered Elektron a good few times about the shite amount of sample storage available to the UW MkII. Looks like i better sell my old UW MkII i have left for the + version when it appears. I might give the OT a miss after all. Just doesn't fit the bill with me, not even the specs. Although time will tell on this one.
