Will Roland remake any TR series pieces?
Just kinda of curious if anyone has heard, or knows some inside info about Roland. I've noticed a steady re-production effort on many different manufacturers releasing newer, update versions on their classic pieces. Moog & DSI to name a few, would love to see Roland revisit their most outstanding pieces. Sadly I don't feel their new SH-??? stuff is either good nor improved. It seems way to toy like. Don't even get me started on Yamaha synths....or David Linn (what happened!!!)
I realize that some physical technologies are no longer available, as well as some types tech is obsolete. It just seems that some pieces, i.e. 303, 606, 808, & 909, are just that outstandingly solid, simple and unique.
I have a MachineDrum, and have finally cracked it's code and truly think this pieces is the closest thing out there to the famed TR series .(many thanks to forum guru's here & on Elektrons site!! Kudos)

Re: Will Roland remake any TR series pieces?
Roland will most likely never reproduce any of its legacy gear. Whether or not they make a new drum machine based on the TR features and slapping the TR prefix on the name like the new SH synths is another story, but I'm inclined to think that will never happen either.
Other than the Boss DR & Roland MV series, Roland has not made a drum machine since the R-70 in the mid 90's.

Technically the MC-303 and 505 were expansions off the MC-202, The Sh-201 to the sh101,2000 etc. I wouldn't say that they would never make any more TR series, however if they did it could me more along the lines of a cross between the MC series and the SH-201.
It would be welcome as the prices on the TR series are way extreme.

Though I will say that I enjoy Roland drums and I think I could go for a modern TR machine.

Re: Will Roland remake any TR series pieces?
Roland would be far more likely to reintroduce/reissue classics from the Boss range, and they don't do that. So remaking old drum boxes is even less likely.

Wouldn't want them to. I wouldn't buy it, along with the SH-201 and probably the SH-01 (Unless it magically makes the 8080 look like a toy haah.

No.
Moog LP + Casio SK1 and MT-75 + tube amp = good tone.

No. If you want a TR, you will go buy a TR, or you will go buy an MC-303 or 505 for those TR kits.

Re: Will Roland remake any TR series pieces?
Of course they won't. They include 808 and 909 samples in how many of their workstations and grooveboxes? That's what they want you to buy, not a dedicated machine.
I sorta like the DR-880 as a sketchpad/metronome/jam aid, though. What I wouldn't give to have Roland update the 880 with TR-style button-based sequencing rather than the horrible interface it currently has.

Gear List: A bunch that go 'WHHONNGG!', several that go 'tweedle tweedle' and 'thumpity', and a few that don't make any noise at all but have lots of delightful little lights on them.
