The best deal that you felt you got I guess. The Moog and Yamaha was also the biggest loss for me as I lent them to a friend and he sold them on me.

90% of the time this undervalued rompler provides me with a satisfactory answer for all my musical needs. One of the most balanced and useful instruments I have met in person
His sex dungeons are rumored to hold hundreds of people in secret locations around the world.

My best synth buy ever is Yamaha DX7 with Sycologic V2 patch memory expansion. The most used and rewarding instrument I've ever had. I love the FM synthesis to bits.

am sure i've had some other good ones, but off the top of my head...

casio CZ-101, roland S770 & korg GR-1 spring reverb all for $50.

polymoog for $600, sold it for $2300.

MS-20 for $700 (potheads didn't know the difference from an MS-10).

realistic MG-1 for free since a friend's friend left it at my house then moved to another state & never asked for it.

TR-808 & CSQ-800 for $800.

oh also just swapped my monome 64 straight up for a vermona DRM mkIII, thought that was pretty sweet.

Im lucky to have found some great items for crazy prices... At my local council dump i got a Minimoog, Hohner pianet and fender 73 all the same day For £20 scrap value... Minimoog was in a bad state but i rebuilt it and still have it 6 years later...

Rarest items i ever found was a couple of years before that from the same place Linn LM1 for £2 scrap value. And a Powertran Transcendent Polysynth with 4 voices....Super rare item

Had loads more stuff for that sort of price but they were the best ones

Couple of weeks ago got a Yamaha TX816 19" rack fully loaded with 8 DX7 cards for £10 - Local car boot sale.

Is that the Mini In you Avatar?

Wow I love stories like this. You know even if you have to rebuild them it is nice when you are starting out at at almost free.

I guess my CS5 for 15 dollars, is my second synth. It's been 6 years and counting.

There is a thread about 'Cheapest synth I bought...' , but I think this is more about which synth you've gotten the best return (pleasure-wise).

Therefor:
1. Ensoniq SQ-80. My first real synth. Still have and use it.
2. Mini-D. Just knowing I own one makes me smile.
3 and 4 : Ensoniq TS-12, Yamaha SY-99. My 'desert island' synths: I will be in my grave long before I exhaust their sonic posibilities.

that's what I meant, i was only 15 dollars, and I have kept it for 6 years with no plans on selling it. Unlike many others that have come and gone.
