606 prices are going steadily up, although some sellers are overly inflating the price.

Over inflation is the only reason any of them have gone up in price really.
Come on Bennett.... Let's Party!

its kick is pretty weak, but it does have its place in certain tracks. the other machines are more versatile, imo.
btw 707 kick layered with 808 kick = best kick ever.

there is such a thing as EQ and compression to toughen up a 606 kick. The 707's kick is the equivalent of someone booting a cardboard box, as that is what it sounds like.alspacka wrote:its kick is pretty weak.

Seeing all of htese great songs reminds me of the YoTube Douche who once commented that the TR 606 is "out of the professional arena" because of its lack of separate outs.
I responded with a list of bands who used to 606.
Most of these were not on the list.

the st-305 is clearly meant as a knock-off of the 606, but they sound very different. If the 606 is somehow the poorman's 808, then the 305 is like the poorman's 606. super analog and funky sounding-the hi-hat pitch even changes on certain steps! the 606 is much cleaner and more "pro" in that sense, but they'd make a nice pair actually (and at least the 305 has a trigger in). cymbal on the 305 is just noise tho and not so great in my book.plikestechno wrote:I had a 606 for a couple of weeks. I felt obligated to get one after I got an 808. My DIN/Sync kick with the 707 which is also now gone. Even though I would still make love to my 808 if could, I think I expected too much out of the 606 and 707.
If I didn't have a Soundmaster ST-305 I may have liked it but the Soundmaster was crazily my first drum machine, they're quite similar except I like the toms and cymbal way better on the Soundmaster plus individual outs, bla bla bla. But you never here about ST-305's because you rarely see them. Those that have them rarely sell them because they aren't worth anything. If they were suddenly worth 1k or something. The market would flood with them.
(plikestechno, since you never gave me the chance to buy yours for an honorable price, I had to go and find my own

people are always hating on the 606 toms, as if they were an ignorable sound-that would seem to be missing the whole point really.
Do you even post on vse bro?

That's interesting.. the main reason I want a 606 is because I love the tom sound.Sir Ruff wrote:

That mod may either be to trigger an external device or for the "Egyptian Lover Hi-Q Click" sound - or both.FX23 wrote:Ive got a seperate output for accent on mine, question is - why?

Maybe it's the dirty (and for me, dark) sound of the ST-305 that I like.
I did find the 606 too clean, and too fatiguing on the ears so that makes sense. And I didn't like the toms at all.
I'll never sell my ST-305 now though. A couple of times during modular mania I thought about selling it but as soon as I flick it on and listen to it I can't. Maybe because it was my first. Glad you eventually found one to give a go too.
It's not my problem you're cheap.

dave storrs, who produced egyptian lover is a member in our orchestra, les deux love orchestra. i asked him about this and his reply was that the poster above was correct. although i'm not sure if he meant he was correct about the ext triggering or the hi-q click or both.Z wrote:That mod may either be to trigger an external device or for the "Egyptian Lover Hi-Q Click" sound - or both.FX23 wrote:Ive got a seperate output for accent on mine, question is - why?
that's the way it is with dave.
he said, in any case, to check out 'reckless.'
