KULTEN IS BACK ! (SYB-3 fans welcome)
Hi there,
I'm back after a year of bass playing in a rock band, collaborations with electronic friends, and non-posting in this forum.
I replug the SYB-3 !
And here's a sample of one of my work, I now try to be part ambiant (like this track, made with SYB-3 bass synth, DR-110 drum machine and DD-3 digital delay) and part even more "minimal" than I was (those who know me can be afraid...).
OCEAN IN SATURN : https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7064872/ocean_in_saturn.mp3
By the way : I can see more and more SYB-3 and SYB-5 users on YouTube and that's realy cool, you know these synths are awesome if you know them.
EDIT : let's talk about SYB would you ?

BSY is pretty dang cheap. I wonder how they compare. Usually they all have their own character. I had the Korg synth bass pedal, forgot the name, but it was pretty cool for vowelly sounds.

Hey Kulten and others,
I got a question, is the SYB-3 digital or is it analog? I've been wondering this for a while but given the time it was created I'd expect it to be digital.
I really love the square with noise on this pedal.

I posted a side to side of the two a while back in sound production, not sure if it's still posted.

Thank you everyone.
I think I'm the origine of that "analog synth" legend, when I posted on the net in 1999 that it has a built in oscillator. It was a mistake, but Internet is a great area of "copy/paste" and so...
About the BSY 600 : it's a SYB-5 clone.
It's a digital synth, analog modeling with a processor. I have phoned to BOSS Europe in 2004 (I'm French) and ask them why the SYB-5 is less expensive than the SYB-3 ; they said that the chip in the SYB-3 is built for it, and the chip in the SYB-5 is also use in other Roland units.adhmzaiusz wrote: I got a question, is the SYB-3 digital or is it analog?

Welcome back.
Me, i'm still trying to figure out if the SYB (or the BSY) boxes can be used with monophonic old toy keyboards like my old brilliant Yamaha PSS-20.

I circuit bent one of these recently after finding it for 2.99$ at a value village. It can make some pretty crazy noises now.polardark wrote:Welcome back.

Helo,
Nice to see you.
Long story short : I played in several bands the last 6 years as a bass player (rock, metal, jazz, electro, and I even play clarinet now), but the SYB-3 was missing, and now I really want to go electro.
So :

- now I'm on SoundCloud : https://soundcloud.com/user-580682533
Hope this time it's for real. Posts about synthesizers here are so cool, this forum brings me good memories.
