What Is the Sexiest-Looking Synth?

Post by Naive Teen Idol » Mon May 31, 2010 8:59 pm

We all know the term "gear p**n" -- and many of us are addicted to it. Well, logic then flows that certain synthesizers must get you excited simply by the look of them.

Which, pray tell, is the sexiest?

My vote goes for this:

Personally, I've never seen a white-faced Oddy in person -- and I think the orange and black Mk III isn't too shabby either from the aesthetics department. But there's something about white-faced 2800--with the silvery white and the black lettering with the multicolored sliders--that just totally, totally does it for me. I would consider spending thousands of dollars for this even if I didn't need it.

(Mods, apologies if this has been done before -- I have a hard time believing it hasn't, but couldn't find it)

The Buchla is not sexy in a feminine way.

Btw, did I see a whiteface minimoog over the Jupiter8? Because that's one great looking synth!!

The original Synclavier II from 1982 was quite attractive. With a mahogany case, red buttons from a B-52, a processor declaired top secret, and a price tag of over 20 grand, said to be the Rolls of synthesizers at the time.

Or how about an original unmolested Moog Modular 1P from 1969 with a custom Moog 1150 ribbon controller.

h**l, any synthesizer looks sexy with a Moog Modular in the background!

I think there's something about the CS-5 that is very appealing. Just simple and sexy - simply sexy. :geek:

I'm also a sucker for the MS-10/MS-20 look.

Moog modular and .com modulars are very classy too. Like sexy librarians.

I would agree -- the CS-5's, 15's and 30's have a very sleek look to them -- similar in some ways to the MS-20...

Would add that while this isn't exactly "sexy" -- it is pretty hott looking:
