I think the important thing that is missing is the almost chorus-like 'singing' of the filter on the MS-20

The monotron does sound really great though!

This might be controversial but I don't think the filter sounds the same at all at high resonances, starting 1:50 in the video. The MS-20 has some kind of crazy harmonic overtones (don't know if thats the right term) that aren't audible at all when the filter is swept on the Mono.

edit: yeah what Cartesia said is also what I'm talking about

Interesting video. I've always thought that Monotron and MS20 sound identical but now I realised the MS20 has keys and more knobs. ;) Am I the only one who wonders what's the point of this little noise box?

correct me if I'm wrong: monotron has no HP filter. I really wish it did. I don't understand how they are calling it the "same filter as the ms-20" when it's missing this.

if there is & you find it, please share...

because the MS-20 has two separate filters, they're saying it's the same filter that both the MS-10 & 20 had, which is only the lowpass.

aaaaamen. i even have an MS-10 & an MS-20 & i'd pick one up for twice the price if it had midi. or CV/gate...

+1.... well, I don't know about "twice the price" here, but I'm hoping for a robust market for CV modded second-hand monos soon after their US release. In the VSE monotron "concerns" thread, I was lead to believe it might be a relatively simple mod.

they're just 60 bucks, anyone who wouldn't drop twice that for one w/ midi is an idiot.

native midi sure, especially if it also has envelope control or even just a "trigger" mode for the LFO to fake it, but $120 with a CV gate mod? Seems a little steep if you factor in the external converter.

$120 for an analog monophonic synth module w/ LFO & the lowpass filter of the MS-10 & 20 that can be controlled by other gear. it's a f**k steal.

if you're complaining about the expense of a midi/CV converter, that's a whole separate scenario.
