Summer NAMM next week...

Post by Stab Frenzy » Thu Jun 10, 2010 4:17 am

What are you planning on complaining about? I'm thinking that I'll complain that Roland didn't release a $200 JP-8 at it, even though it's mostly a guitar trade show. Korg did the Monotron, so Roland could easily do a $200 JP-8.

What about you?

I'm going to complain that Tom Oberheim has been slacking lately because he hasn't re-released the OB-8 for under a grand with 64-note polyphony and real VCOs.

Oh, and the h**l with Yamaha and their Motifs. Why haven't we seen the successor to the AN1x but with knobs for every function, a metal case, and super-super saws?

I'm guessing there will be some complaining if NI don't release Reaktor 6. But then again they have announced they don't care about NAMM and similar events so if they release it it'll probably be later this summer.

I will complain about the lack of dashboard-mounted synths. They can do it with car stereos, so why can't I have a CS-80 next to my steering wheel, with aftertouch routed to AC? What the h**l, Yamaha? I guess you just don't care about synthesis anymore.

Maybe Alan R. Pearlman will be there at NAMM with a new improved $25 ARP 2600

If Roland has a booth, I'm pitching the 100% analog signal path Jupiter 1/8.
One oscillator, one filter, one LFO, one octave. Unlimited polychain.

If there's a yet another digital mellotron it will receive my disdain.

add a phone and a digital camera and i'm there. maybe a leather carrying case. i phone users will be so jealous with their virtual synth apps... just immagine the ringtones you could get out of this baby!
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

Im not going to complain, but keep quietly hoping for the one thing thats rooted in reality me thinks.
(uh oh... im breaking the joke chain here with a real letter to santa...)

Im still looking/waiting for someone to make the thing that was supposed to be the linndrum2 - I dont even care if it is the linndrum.

Santa - please bring me a sampler/sequencer something with the realtime acrobatic prowess of the Electribe, but with the midi/sequencing power of the mpc/commandstation.

Am I crazy? Im sure its not coming up this year, but can't be too far over that there horizon....?
