What was the most expensive Synth you ever bought?

Post by Phollop Willing PA » Sat Jan 01, 2011 6:55 pm

This thread is inspired by the 'cheapest synth' thread.

Most expensive? For me, it's a MacBeth M5.

I'd like to keep it to single items rather than adding up a bunch of smaller items - but whatever...

Oh - Happy New Year everyone! 1/1/11

My Mini Moog. At $250.00 it is the most expensive synth I have ever bought.

I know that sounds a bit low but I am a bargain hunter and a cheapskate.

Not bad.

Not knowing what that is, specifically, it would be nice to have a pic and a price even if it's just to drool over.

Roland S750 sampler. IIRC I paid $2200 for it in 1992.
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!

i paid about $3000 and got a brand new virus ti kbd and a yamaha n8 mixer w/ daw as a packaged deal from sam ash.the people at sam ash had no idea what they were doing - the salesman thought the virus was an analog synth, i actually got two daws, and i now have a bag of spare knobs for two synths that obviously are not the virus and the manual for a virus c, despite there being no virus c in the showroom or in stock.
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

Don't laugh, it was a Waldorf Micro Q which at the time were quite pricey even after some price reduction! Think I paid 400 quid and they were 499 new at the time from Turnkey...it was at the time the blue ones just came out if I remember right.
I swapped some gear I had at the time like a Pulse, A-Station, MB-383 and some cash for it....bit of a crappy deal but I REALLY wanted one at the time if I remember right, a friend played me a song he did with it after he got it and that was it..I just NEEDED one lol Total impulsive buy

There it is my original Micro Q..which I then sold and then brought back again LOL..I lost the original photos but found this index card few days ago while clearing stuff..think it's from 2003..that is no S-3000XL but actually a S2800 and I do look about 10 lol

I think the most expensive synth i've bought is my 303, which i paid $700 for back in 1997. But the most expensive musical item i've bought was the Machinedrum. That cost me $1200.
Synths:
Avalon Bassline . TB-03 . JU-06 . MX-1 . Blofeld . MicroMonsta . Akai S5000
Drum Machines:
TR-09 . TR-8

This one in particular took me a very long time to pay back...

Totally worth it though :)
