I like it and would love to get one, but the price is out of my league.

Intresting, but since this is the prototype picture, I expect a way better design for the final product.

How so? The layout looks excellent to me.
It is a working hardwave prototype so you can bet all the knobs, buttons and pads are pretty much in their final place. The production model will probably have slightly different silkscreening/graphics, just like every other DSI hardware proto we've seen.

You've never looked at any other DSI products? :D

I want to know more about the sample side of things, ie what size sample memory, how that works. I saw on Roger Linn's site it says that this is the DSI side of the collaboration, what was gonna be the LDII Analog, and Roger is still working on the RLD all-digital version. So looks like we're gonna get both.

Over at Gearslutz Pym (DSI programmer) chimed in to say that in version 1.0 you cannot load your own samples. Factory samples only. He said it might happen in version 2.0 but that it was not the "focus" of this instrument. If Roger is still making his own version maybe DSI is leaving the user sampling features up to the newest LinnDrum so that they don't overlap.

Hmmm, I suspect there'll be a few people here buying these.

It actually looks really nice too ie. not bright yellow with a dodgy font :D

Needless to say, I'm obviously intending on buying one of these...

however I also came across this...

''Hook up a keyboard and it will simply act as a synth module. Prophet VS waveforms are on the sample chip.''

quote from Pym on dsiforum.org...

Roger Linn has such a nice voice! And I like his playing too. :D

Really surprised by this, I though the Linn / Smith drum machine project was dead. This looks and sounds great! I want one, but 2 grand is very expensive.

May be the layout is fine, need to play with it to find out. My concern is more into the graphic. Hopefully the production model will be better, as the hardware is actually great looking.

haha, I always say that to people...

One thing that surprised me to read, is that the individual outputs for the voices are stereo TRS jacks...
