Thought about it some more and came to the realization that I was approaching this keyboard in the wrong fashion.

First of all, it's not a synthesizer, it's an emulator and it's strengths are 'real instruments', not old school electronic sounds.

Second, because of this 'real instruments' epiphany, I realize that this is a keyboard for film scoring and the like.

The real power of the Jupiter 80 is as an emulator of real instruments and it's got some of the best (if not the best) emulations I've ever heard. The sound isn't thin or 'phat'. It's real world. Somehow, a different thing altogether.
