Re: First Purchases
1976 Maxikorg...took out my first bank loan to buy it.
Here's a video of my seventies fusion band with a Maxikorg solo.
I'm the Gilligan/Spock hybrid. Music is a studio recording that was pasted onto live footage.
Regards,
MM

Re: First Purchases
My first synth was Nord Rack 2. I needed synth sounds for Prog Rock cover band, and got the rack with memory card.

1993 - Korg MS-10.
After that I've been through hundreds of synths, but the MS-10 is still here...

Re: First Purchases
Korg MS-10 - 1st March 1983 for £179 (still got the receipt but alas not the synth)
Later that year I got a Moog Prodigy and thankfully I still have it to this day, love it to bits. Wish I still had the MS10 but I sold it to a friend who sold it on for £35... I should have bought it back of him!!

My first synth was an Ensoniq ESQ-1 on 1994...Automatic Gainsay wrote:I got my first synth in 1985... a brand new Roland Juno-106. Also, a Casio SK-1.
I got my next synth in 1988... a brand new Ensoniq ESQ-1.
It was a true sacrifice, since the price was around 5 times my monthly income... Internet was something misterious, taxes were a steal... but maybe that helped to focus better....
Now there are so much options, so much information sources. 20 years ago It was Electronic Musician magazines, Keyboard, etc....

Re: First Purchases
I bought a Minimoog in 1997. I had never seen anything like it before and had no idea what most of the controls were.
Damn that was a fun year. I wish I had never sold that thing, given what they go for now.

Re: First Purchases
Moog MG-1. I probably put way more effort into getting the darn thing and fixing it up than I should have, but it was worth it. I don't think I'll ever let it leave my setup!

Re: First Purchases
Moog Sonic Six was my second synth. Really fun with the extra LFO.

Re: First Purchases
My first synth was a Mini-Moog I pulled out of a bin of broken black plastic Casio's at the Gerber dump in Sacramento for $7. Worked great -wish I had kept it!

Re: First Purchases
Not my first synth but my first synth I paid for with my hard earned wonga was a Novation Bass Station keyboard back in 2002, walked into a shop and they had it all wired up..looked brandnew, it had lots of knobs on it..looked cool and only cost £150
